The Los Angeles Clippers have been impressive this season. They made the playoffs and made life difficult for the Golden State Warriors despite losing in the first round. Meanwhile, their Staples Center co-tenants, the Los Angeles Lakers, missed the playoffs for the sixth straight year despite signing superstar LeBron James last summer.

However, most of the fans in LA are still not impressed with the Clippers' accomplishment this season, including rapper-entrepreneur and long-time Laker fan Ice Cube. The founder of the Big3 League was a guest at ESPN's The Jump recently, and he said that no matter what the Clippers do, they will never be the fan-favorite in LA.

The Lakers have been the most prominent NBA team and brand ever since, and even though they have struggled to make the playoffs recently, their sports merchandise is still the most sought after by fans. So as hardworking as the Clippers are this season, Ice Cube has a point: they won't take over LA.

Nonetheless, that could change this summer, as the Clippers could potentially make room for two top-tier free agents to join the franchise. If they're able to sign guys like Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Klay Thompson or Kyrie Irving, they might be able to turn their fortunes around.

But until then, LA will still be ruled by the Lakers.
