When LeBron James' Los Angeles mural was desecrated just days after it was made, the greater majority condemned the vandals for setting out on such a cowardly and disrespectful act. In this light, hip-hop artist Ice Cube has recently raised a rather rational argument on why he believes it was the own artists' fault.

Speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, the BIG3 founder claimed that the mural's artist may have gone a bit overboard by declaring LeBron as the “King of LA.”

Although a bit of a reach, Ice Cube does make for a valid point here. To him, James had done nothing yet for him to be given such high praise. Himself coming from humble beginnings, the rapper is a self-made man. Nothing came easy for Ice Cube, especially growing up in the streets of South Central LA. He had to prove himself in the rap industry in order to get to where he is right now, and perhaps, this is the same logic he is applying with LeBron's situation.

Being an openly vocal Kobe Bryant fan himself, the “King of LA” title may have also rubbed Ice Cube in the wrong way. Bryant has arguably been the most significant Laker of the past two decades, and to most Lakers fans, Ice Cube included, is the only man worthy of the throne.

Nonetheless, he made it very clear that he does not, in any way, condone the act of vandalism. That much, we can all agree on.
