Sunday was a good night for the Los Angeles Lakers, as they were able to fend off a resilient San Antonio Spurs side in 103-96 road victory.

Following the entertaining battle between these two Western Conference sides, Lakers veteran forward Jared Dudley singled out (or doubled out?) two specific players on the Lakers he felt were outstanding against the Spurs:

Both LeBron James (21 points, 11 rebounds, 13 assists) and Anthony Davis (25 points, 11 rebounds) were dominant once again for the Lakers, but for his part, Dudley made sure the role players were also given their due credit.

Dwight Howard was tremendous coming off the bench, as the eight-time All-Star accounted for 14 points (on a pristine 7-of-7 shooting), 13 rebounds, a couple of assists, and two blocks in just 21 minutes of play. Howard has been quite a revelation for L.A. thus far, and it does seem that the three-time Defensive Player of the Year has put his ego aside to fully accept a supporting role for the Lakers.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope also provided a much-needed spark for the second unit, logging 14 points and a couple of clutch 3-pointers down the stretch. KCP had started the season on a rough note, but as proven by Sunday night's performance, the 26-year-old stays ready and can hit shots when it matters most.

Sunday night's win marks L.A.'s fifth straight victory, with the side now 5-1 to start the new campaign. LeBron and company will have Monday night off, but will be back in action on Tuesday against the Chicago Bulls, in what should be a routine victory for a surging Lakers side.
