Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant will be happy for LeBron James when The King passes him on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

Just don't expect Bryant to be present at the Lakers game when James does it, even if it's in Philadelphia per Bill Oram of The Athletic:

“Go?” he said dismissively as we parted last week. “I got four kids, man. I can barely come here.”

Entering Monday, James is 80 points behind Bryant for third place on the all-time scoring list. The Lakers take on the Boston Celtics on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. LeBron will be able to inch closer to Bryant against the rival Celtics.

Some fans are going to be torn when James passes Bryant. Kobe is still No. 1 in the heart of the Lakers faithful, and many don't want to see Bryant's place on the all-time scoring list get lower.

However, when James signed with the Lakers in the summer of 2018, this was always going to be a possibility for die-hard Bryant fans. Watching LeBron pass Kobe won't be easy for some fans, but it's still a big moment in NBA history they should appreciate.

In his second season with the Lakers, James is averaging 25.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 10.9 assists. He's shooting 49.2 percent from the field, 34.4 percent from beyond the arc and 69.2 percent from the free-throw line. The Lakers are 34-8 on the season, which is good for the No. 1 spot in the Western Conference. They have a 4.5-game lead over the Los Angeles Clippers.
