When one thinks of current Los Angeles Lakers forward Larry Nance Jr. and his father, usually, one thing immediately comes to mind: slam dunks — lots of them. On Friday evening before the Lakers' contest against the Brooklyn Nets, Nance Jr. showed up in a shirt with his father's image printed on it, who was the first ever NBA Slam Dunk Contest winner back in 1984 as a member of the Phoenix Suns.

In a photo posted on the Lakers' official Twitter account, Nance Jr. gave his father plenty of praise with his epic shirt selection.

It's only fitting that he wears a shirt like this to Barclays Center after what happened last season. In what was easily one of the best dunks of recent memory, Nance Jr. dunked on Lakers teammate and then-Nets center Brook Lopez and sent the arena and NBA fans into a frenzy over what they witnessed.

Need to have your memory refreshed a little bit? Check out the video below, as Nance. Jr. absolutely posterized Lopez into oblivion that December night.

On Thursday, it was officially announced that Nance. Jr. would be a participant in the 2018 Verizon Slam Dunk Contest.

“NBA All-Star Victor Oladipo of the Indiana Pacers, 2016 runner-up Aaron Gordon of the Orlando Magic and first-time participants Larry Nance Jr. of the Los Angeles Lakers and Dennis Smith Jr. of the Dallas Mavericks will display their aerial creativity in the 2018 Verizon Slam Dunk on Saturday, Feb. 17 at Staples Center in Los Angeles,” the Lakers said in a statement on their team's website.

Get your popcorn ready, NBA fans. This should be quite an amazing spectacle, indeed.
