Mobile-video platform Quibi announced Friday it will be bringing viewers a docuseries about the Houston Astros' sign-stealing scandal, entitled “Sign Language.” But this baseball project will have something of a basketball flair. “Sign Language” will be produced by LeBron James' Uninterrupted sports media company.

The docuseries will reportedly focus not just on the fallout of the Astros scandal from a baseball perspective, but also the impact of social media in perpetuating further reporting (via Mark Townsend of Yahoo Sports):

According to Quibi, the series will be directed by Julia Willoughby Nason and Jenner Furst, who are best known for directing the well received “Fyre Fraud” documentary on Hulu. Maverick Carter, who produced The Decision and co-founded Uninterrupted with James, will be an executive producer, Variety reports.

The series is expected to use Uninterrupted’s deep connection to sports to involve several big-name athletes and reporters from multiple sports in an attempt to capture the scandal’s wide-ranging impact.

“The documentary will transcend the baseball diamond to explore larger themes of greed, cheating, corruption, sportsmanship and social media activism,” Quibi said in a press release, courtesy of the Houston Chronicle. “Sign Language will be the definitive documentary about the scandal that rocked America's pastime.”

A release date has not yet been determined. It is not a surprise James would choose to get involved in this venture. Uninterrupted has gradually expanded its profile over time, most notably with “The Shop,” which was carried by HBO. James also commented on the Astros' cheating scandal with a take of his own over Twitter back in February.

The LeBron James Family Foundation also helped sponsor Saturday night's television event for the high school class of 2020.

James has been expanding his influence off the floor for some time, and this docuseries should capture the attention of baseball fans everywhere.
