Anthony Davis joined LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason, creating one of the more formidable duos in the NBA. Their stint together begins in roughly one month when training camp officially opens, and The King is ready to get to work with his new teammate.

James and Davis took part in a practice game on Sunday with a few members of the Klutch team at the Lakers' training facility in El Segundo. Following the workout, James made it clear that he and Davis are going to push one another in the coming season (via Silver Screen and Roll):

Davis is obviously a big-time addition to the Lakers' roster. The former No. 1 overall pick made 56 appearances with the Pelicans last season, racking up averages of 25.9 points on 51.7 percent shooting from the field (33.1 percent from beyond the arc), 12.0 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.4 blocks and 1.6 steals in 33.0 minutes per outing.

As for playing in a new city, Davis says he loves the Southern California area:

“The weather is amazing. The city fits me,” Davis told the Los Angeles Times after joining the Lakers. “It’s more slow motion, and that’s kind of how I am. … I live out here in the summers. L.A. is one of my favorite cities. I love to live here.”

At this point, it's difficult to judge how the new-look Lakers will fare this season, though they certainly look good on paper. Los Angeles was in playoff contention through the early stages of last season. However, James suffered a groin injury in December, which forced him to miss a substantial amount of time. As a result, the Lakers fell out of the race.

Now, though, with an influx of new talent and an offseason to prepare, the Lakers will be looking to find their way back into the championship hunt.
