Los Angeles Lakers superstar small forward LeBron James had some big plans for Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic and Nike.

On the latest episode of Road Trippin', James told Allie Clifton and Richard Jefferson that he wanted to start “Team LeBron” at Nike and have Doncic as his first signee.

Luka Doncic ended up signing with Jordan Brand. He's now set to be one of the faces of the NBA and Jordan brand for the next decade or so assuming he stays healthy.

As he mentioned, LeBron James is a huge fan of Doncic's game. Whenever the Lakers forward talks highly of another player in the league, it holds a lot of weight since James is the best player in the NBA.

Last season for the Mavs, Doncic averaged 28.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game during the regular season. He shot 46.3 percent from the field, 31.6 percent from beyond the arc and 75.8 percent from the free-throw line.

The 21-year-old Doncic led the Mavs to the 2020 playoffs, where Dallas fell to the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round in six games at Walt Disney World in the NBA bubble.

Despite losing to the Clippers, though, the Mavs have a really bright future with Doncic leading the way. LeBron James and the Lakers will certainly have to be mindful of Dallas in 2020-21 since Luka is surely going to take his game to another level.

LeBron and the Lakers are reportedly set to face Luka and the Mavs on Christmas. That will surely be a fun game for NBA fans.
