Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James will make his Staples Center debut Tuesday when the team takes on the Denver Nuggets. James made his Lakers debut Sunday night in San Diego and finished with nine points while shooting 2-of-6 from the field, 2-of-2 from beyond the arc, and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line. The four-time MVP also had three rebounds and three assists.

James won't be joined on the court by second-year point guard Lonzo Ball. Ball underwent surgery this offseason on his left knee and the franchise wants to bring him along slowly. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft played in 52 games during his rookie season and averaged 10.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game while shooting 36.0 percent from the field and 30.5 percent from beyond the arc.

James figures to get a standing ovation when he's announced in the starting lineup Tuesday. The best player in the game is now playing in the biggest media market, so there's a lot of hoopla surrounding the Lakers this season. James surprised many when he signed a four-year deal instead of a short-term deal with Los Angeles in July. It shows that LeBron is committed to the Lakers and knows it's going to be a process before the team is a championship contender.
