Los Angeles Lakers starting point guard Lonzo Ball told local reporters Tuesday he was not fully engaged in the last two games.

The Lakers lost to the San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves on the road in the last two contests. Lonzo Ball had six points, two rebounds and three assists against the Spurs, and then four points, one rebound and one assist versus the Timberwolves.

The former No. 2 overall pick shot 4-of-14 from the floor in the two games.

The Lakers have gotten off to a slow start in the LeBron James era. The team is just 2-5 on the season and giving up 122.3 points per game. That's second-to-last in the NBA.

In seven games thus far, Ball is averaging 9.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting 44.1 percent from the field, 36.1 percent from beyond the arc and 57.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Lonzo Ball underwent knee surgery after the 2017-18 season ended. He may be feeling some effects of the procedure, as his shot has looked very flat lately. The 21-year-old, just like the rest of his teammates, is still getting used to playing with James as well.

However, there is no excuse to not be fully engaged on the court. Even if your shot is not falling, you can still play hard on defense.
