Los Angeles Lakers stud Lonzo Ball has missed his team's past 20 games due to a lingering ankle problem. It was also recently reported that the Lakers have decided to shut down the 21-year-old for the rest of the season as part of his road to recovery.

However, despite a disappointing sophomore season, Ball has kept his eyes on the prize, and he has made it abundantly clear that staying motivated is the least of his concerns:

“I’m very, very motivated,” Ball told Shams Charania of The Athletic. “I want to be the best I can be. I’m looking forward to this summer. I don’t look at it as added pressure, because I haven’t had a full summer yet to dedicate to myself. I have to keep working on my craft. I’m just happy that I’m going to be healthy.”

Ball admitted he has had a tough time dealing with the injury which has kept him out for the better part of his sophomore year. Nonetheless, he has no intentions of sulking and feeling sorry for himself:

“It’s been frustrating,” said Ball. “This is the second year that this has happened. But I have to stay positive, stay motivated.”

It has certainly been a frustrating season for both Ball and the Lakers. It is without question that the entire organization just can't wait for this ugly season to come to its conclusion. The summer can't come any sooner as the Lakers look to go back to the drawing board in preparation for what should be an epic bounce-back year for LeBron James' second season in Los Angeles.
