Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is frustrated with his team for its recent performances, but maybe he has himself to blame.

An NBA executive said that James destroyed the Lakers' chemistry by lobbying for New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis before the trade deadline and then proceeding to joke about it during All-Star Weekend:

“He killed the [Lakers'] chemistry,” one NBA executive said, according to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report. “He shouldn't have been so public about it. Even during the All-Star draft, he laughed about [wanting Davis to be his teammate].”

Following a loss to the Pelicans (sans Davis) this past Saturday, James appeared to place some blame on his teammates:

“When you've never been there or know what it takes [to win at a high level], sometimes you're afraid to get uncomfortable,” said James. “You've got to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.”

He then seemed to question his teammates' hearts:

“It's how you approach the game every day,” he said. “It's how you think the game every day. It's how you play the game. It's how you prepare for the game. And that's not even like when you get to the arena. That's like way before that. Is basketball, is that the most important thing, why we're doing this. Is this the most important thing in your life at this time?”

The Lakers have gone just 3-5 since LeBron James returned from a groin injury on Jan. 31 (one of those losses was without him) and currently own an overall record of 29-30 on the season. They sit in 10th place in the Western Conference standings.
