The Los Angeles Lakers were able to sign sharpshooting point guard Quinn Cook, who is extremely excited to play for the Purple and Gold next season. He's also happy that he'll be able to share the court with JaVale McGee, whom he played with for a couple of seasons with the Golden State Warriors.

Cook said McGee was one of the first players to welcome him to the Lakers and added that the veteran center is one of the best teammates he's had in his career.

“We got extremely close,” Cook said on his time with McGee on the Warriors, per Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints. “Our lockers were next to each other. We always sat next to each other on the bench.”

“I think when he found out that I signed with the Lakers, he sent me a nice text. He's one of the best teammates you can have.”

Over the past couple of seasons, McGee has rebounded well from being a constant figure in Shaqtin' A Fool to being one of the most consistent and hard working big men in the league. Last season, he signed a one-year deal with the Lakers, averaging 12.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 75 games.

McGee agreed to return to Los Angeles for a two-year deal with the hopes of winning another championship.

McGee is not the strongest or most athletic center in the league, but he finds ways to be effective. He does all the little things on the court and he is not afraid to say what's on his mind, especially if he believes it will help the team win.

It is unclear if McGee will be starting or coming off the bench for the Lakers next season, but one thing is for sure: he'll be ready to accept whatever role is given to him. Sure enough, Cook is proud to have someone like him around.
