The Los Angles Lakers front office has been in shambles recently. From the Anthony Davis trade fiasco to Magic Johnson's abrupt departure, things haven't been executed cleanly or professionally. Finding a new head coach was just as bumpy of a ride. After seemingly closing the deal with Tyronn Lue, things fell through and the Lakers turned to Frank Vogel.

Sports commentator Stephen A. Smith  recently blasted the move, claiming Lue should've been a clear choice:

Smith pointed to the success that Lue had with LeBron James as the main reason the Lakers should have hired him. In his first year as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Lue won the championship with James and Kyrie Irving leading the way.

Smith claimed that the Lakers should have given Lue the staff that he requested instead of trying to force personnel moves upon him.

Another deal breaker for Lue was the fact that the Lakers did not want to offer him a five-year deal. Instead, they angled for a three-year contract that would end at the same time as LeBron's. This, combined with the assistant coaching issue, led to Lue and the Lakers abandoning talks.

Now, the Lakers can only wait and hope that Vogel was the right choice. As the team attempts to recruit more high-level players, they will bank on LeBron's greatness and new staff to lead them back to relevance.
