The latest rumors reveal that Danny Green might end up not following Kawhi Leonard if the latter signs with the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Green has been waiting on what will happen with the Lakers. Per Mavericks reporter Blake Weir, if Leonard joins LeBron James and Anthony Davis, then Green will likely head somewhere else.

“Danny Green is a free agent who has been waiting to see what happens in LA. I think he'd like to play for the Lakers if there's an opportunity there, if Kawhi goes somewhere else and that space opens.”

Green has been listed as among the best role players available in the free agency market. His resume includes two championship rings — one with the San Antonio Spurs under legendary head coach Gregg Popovich and with the Toronto Raptors. He was also selected into the All-Defensive Second Team in 2017.

According to various analysts, this makes him the ideal player to surround James and Davis with. His 3-point shooting ability is needed to space the floor. His championship experience, too, is going to be valuable down the line.

However, if the Lakers end up luring in Leonard, then the Lakers won't have enough cap space for a player like Green. He shared before that at this point in his career, he still wants to maximize what he can earn. As such, he won't likely ink a mediocre deal with the Purple and Gold.

Leonard is not expected to decide within the next few days. Given this rumor, will Green go ahead and sign with a different team? He shared earlier that he has spoken to the Lakers, Raptors, and the Mavericks. Which team will end up luring him in?
