JaVale McGee has come a long way. From being a staple at Shaqtin' A Fool, the big man has become an important cog for the Los Angeles Lakers as its rim protector.

He showcased his status as the team's low-post guardian by rejecting a potential dunk of the year from Orlando Magic swingman Terrence Ross.

Terrence Ross launched himself up with the intention to unleash a powerful dunk. However, JaVale McGee had the strength to send it away and make the entire Staples Center stand up and cheer for their big man.

McGee has been a great asset for the Purple and Gold this 2019-20 campaign. While his scoring has dwindled now that Anthony Davis takes care of the offense, he's still having an incredible year.

The 31-year-old center is averaging 6.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocks a game. His incredible form, one that likely began during his championship run with the Golden State Warriors, helps the Lakers dominate the Western Conference.

Moreover, this isn't the only time that he put on an incredible defensive effort for the Lakers. Earlier this year, he had an incredible outing against the Detroit Pistons as he recorded six blocks. He made it difficult for everyone to score close to the basket. In fact, his dominance got to the point that the league had him tested for doping.

Fans hope that this run of defensive dominance from McGee doesn't end any time soon.
