After weeks of anticipation following the end of the NBA's regular season, the Los Angeles Lakers won the number two overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, setting themselves up for another chance at a big-time, young player if they keep the pick. On Wednesday morning, the Lakers worked out guard Lonzo Ball out of UCLA, but the details about the workouts are unknown. Accordingto Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News, up next for the team will be individually working out Kentucky guard De'Aaron Fox next week.

The Lakers plan to host an individual workout for former Kentucky guard De’Aaron Fox on June 13, according to league sources familiar with the situation. After working out last week with the Sacramento Kings, Fox also plans to work out with the Philadelphia 76ers at some point the following weekend (June 16-18).

The Lakers are also reportedly non-committal on their number two overall selection, open to selecting names like Ball, Fox, Kansas guard Josh Jackson.

Plenty in NBA circles expect the Lakers to draft Ball because of his strong passing and shooting abilities he displayed during his lone season with the Bruins. Ball also could become a marketing draw with the Los Angeles native starring at Chino Hills and his father, LaVar, pursuing various business ventures with his “Big Baller Brand.” Yet, the Lakers have maintained an open mind on who they would select at No. 2.

Ball averaged 14.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 7.6 assists, and 1.8 steals per game on 55.1 percent shooting leading his Bruins to a 31-5 record. Fox played 36 games for the Kentucky Wildcats, averaging 16.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.5 steals on 47.8 percent shooting from the field.
