Lamar Jackson and Bernard Pollard: Ballers, Ravens, and these days, bitter rivals.
On Wednesday, via twitter exchange, the pair went at it in response to a tweet made by Pollard.
No TOP Wr will ever come there while LJ is there. Plenty of WRs have been available to get in the off-season while LJ has been starting, but nobody wants to go. They give him the respect, but they don’t want to play with him. LJ is good but he’s not able to make the throws.

This isn't the first time the former Ravens' safety was critical of Jackson, but it is the first time Lamar engaged on social media. In 2020, after the Ravens' playoff loss to the Titans in the divisional round, Pollard referred to Jackson as “exciting, but not the answer”. This came after Pollard predicted Tennessee to win prior to the start of the contest, where Pollard added, “I told ya'll”.
Now, as Lamar fires shots back, things are starting to heat up.
Before we get there, let's answer a question many have asked on social media;
Who is Bernard Pollard?
Pollard, a nine-year safety in the NFL, played for Baltimore in '11 and '12. During this time, he played the counterpart of Ed Reed, helping the Ravens lift the Lombardi trophy through his help in the secondary.
Pollard has been very critical of the Ravens in recent years, becoming a polarizing figure in the Ravens community. In addition to his consistent Lamar Jackson critiquing, the former safety has also been very critical on head coach John Harbaugh. In 2018, Pollard expressed his disproval of Baltimore's head coach, tweeting the organization should fire him.
Fire him ASAP! Shame they let him do the damage he did… 🤦🏿♂️

According to Pollard, ‘the damage' in question was dismantling the 2012 Ravens' Super Bowl roster.
Through it all, the hard hitting safety is best known for his damage against the Patriots. Rookie year aside, legendary quarterback Tom Brady has missed more than four contests in a season just once. That year was 2008, where Brady tore his ACL in a week-one matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. The man who delivered the hit? Bernard Pollard.
Brady isn't the only Patriots victim on Pollard's resume, either.
The very next season, now playing for a new team, Pollard once again faced the Patriots. In this matchup, Welker was next on Pollard's list, as a hit on Welker tore the Patriot receiver's ACL and MCL.
In 2011, Pollard faced off against New England in the AFC Championship game. Here, he delivered a hit to future Hall of Famer Rob Gronkowski, who ultimately suffered a high ankle sprain. The following year, once again playing New England in the same AFC Champion game, Pollard slammed into running back Stevan Ridley, which instantly made Ridley lose consciousness.
The beef between the two Ravens is heating up
Pollard's tweet, “No TOP Wr will ever come there while LJ is there”, was met with retaliation from Lamar Jackson. In response to this tweet, the 2019 NFL MVP had this to say:
No HOF conversation or nothing 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 but you know something now??🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Lamar wasn't done firing back, either.
You been cappin since I been playing for the ravens I never heard of you tbh my boy you got your Super Bowl cause of ray Lewis and Ed Reed 🤣🤣 that year
— Lamar Jackson (@Lj_era8) July 14, 2022
As Pollard differed to his championship with Baltimore, the Ravens' quarterback had a response for that, too.
Never🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣nobody speak of you 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I had to Google you lil bra🤣🤣🤣🤣 I never heard of you until I seen you keep dissing like you was a HOFMER BUT YOU FARRRRRRRRRRR FROM IT ACROSS THE OCEAN LIKE OVERSEAS🤣🤣🤣🤣 https://t.co/enswddjxtX

When Lamar knocked Pollard for not being a Hall of Famer, Pollard stated the only thing that matters to him is the fear he made opposing players feel. Jackson, in response to that statement, claimed no one feared him. The quarterback in Baltimore even went as far to tweet, “I wish I would've played against you. I would've threw the ball to coach and ran right at [you] BERNARD”.
“I respect my ogs who currently and also played back in the day, but you? not ever”, Lamar added to the fire.
This all comes just two-days after Pollard left Lamar off of his top-10 quarterbacks list.
