Lakers superstar LeBron James is known for his strict diet regime. However, every week, The King makes it a point to indulge in what he calls “Taco Tuesday.”

James' Tuesday tradition, which he often celebrates with family members at his home in Los Angeles, has become an internet sensation. The former No. 1 overall pick has invited several special guests to the event, including Anthony Davis, who joined LeBron and his family shortly after signing with the Lakers this past offseason.

LeBron James likes to get everyone involved in his Taco Tuesday festivities. No one is spared, and everyone is encouraged to participate in announcing the date at the top of their lungs.

At one gathering in August of 2019, the James family was sat around their kitchen table with several friends. LeBron turned his camera on, then cheekily hinted to his followers that his emotions were out of sync.

What's this? No Taco Tuesday?

“Sike!,” James said with a big smile in his video post. “Ya'll know what today is. Today is Taco Tuuuesdayyy!”

That wasn't the only time LeBron James faked out his followers. As Taco Tuesday became increasingly popular, James started to have a little fun with each passing week. Fans often thought the Akron, Ohio native forgot the date, but it seems it was all part of his scheme. For weeks, he continued to deliver.

In our humble opinion, the best part of this particular Taco Tuesday is when James' daughter, Zhuri, belts out the chant:

James invited several of his Lakers teammates to join him for a dinner at a Mexican restaurant in November. It was one of their first public appearances off of the basketball court, and fans were lined up outside the establishment in hopes of catching a glimpse of the players.

When LeBron James finally made his entrance, he responded to a fan who was seeking some Taco Tuesday love:

The pinnacle of Taco Tuesday's popularity may have came in an October matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies, when James led the entire crowd inside the Staples Center in a chant from his spot on the bench.

A live game was being played, but the crowd chanted on. James pumped his fist, egging them on:

James actually tried to have “Taco Tuesday” trademarked, but the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office denied his request in September, noting that it is a “commonplace term.” Still, LeBron carried on with his family tradition.

Whether or not Taco Tuesday has played a role, LeBron James and the Lakers are enjoying a fantastic season. Currently atop the Western Conference standings at 41-12 overall, Los Angeles has its sights squarely set on the postseason.
