LeBron James is bound to become a free agent at the end of this season. Before that happens, the NBA will have to go through hundreds of regular season games, an entire postseason, and endure several blocks of quotes from LaVar Ball. Having said all of that, it is never too early for teams to announce their candidacy for the LeBron James sweepstakes.

One of the teams which have ostensibly shown its great interest in hiring the Cleveland Cavaliers forward is the Philadelphia 76ers. It’s just so easy to tell because there are billboards put up in Cleveland urging James to go to Philly once his current contract with the Cavs expires. That’s not to mention the palpable chumminess between James and the Sixers before, during, and after Thursday’s game at the Quicken Loans Arena on Thursday.

Just like the messages in those aforementioned billboards, James going to the City of Brotherly Love would “complete the process.”

With Philly’s aggressive approach in wooing James, the Los Angeles Lakers appear to have taken the backseat to Philly, but according to ESPN’s Steve Mason (H/T James H. Williams), Los Angeles will also have billboards in hopes of swaying James to sign with the Lakers in the summer.

It was not stated, but these billboards might be the ones which Mason earlier reported will be financed by  Jacob Emrani, an LA-based attorney.

Using success in winning titles as a unique selling point is not new to James, however. Before “The Decision”, it was reported that Miami Heat president Pat Riley tried to persuade James to go to South Beach by emptying his bag of championship rings on the table right in front of the forward. It can’t get any more aggressive than that, but no one could say it was not effective because whether James factored the sight of Riley’s rings or not in his decision, at the end of the day, he did go on to become a Heat. Los Angeles is simply looking to do the same.
