In spite of rampant speculation that the Denver Broncos could move cornerback Chris Harris ahead of the 4 p.m. ET NFL trade deadline on Tuesday, the Broncos held on to him, and Mike Klis of 9 News says there was not much interest, with the Detroit Lions representing the only team that made an offer for the defensive back.

Klis also notes that the Philadelphia Eagles expressed interest in Harris but never actually made an offer.

Harris' contract is up at the end of this season, so if the Broncos let him walk in free agency, they will likely earn a compensatory third-round draft pick in 2021.

Denver and Harris held brief extension talks during the offseason, but were unable to come to terms on a new deal.

Through eight games this season, Harris has logged 22 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble and four passes defended.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Kansas, went undrafted but eventually landed with the Broncos in 2011, where he played in all 16 games and registered 75 tackles and a pick.

From that point forward, Harris became a mainstay in Denver's secondary, and by 2014, he was a Pro Bowler after tallying 58 tackles, a sack and three interceptions.

That began a streak of three straight Pro Bowl appearances for Harris, who also earned a First-Team All-Pro selection in 2015. In addition, Harris helped lead a dominant Denver defense to a Super Bowl title that season.

Harris went on to make another Pro Bowl in 2018 after finishing with 49 tackles, a sack and three picks.
