The Los Angeles Lakers have had a very solid offseason so far, with the addition of Brook Lopez, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma. But they are still looking to add another piece to address their needs in the backcourt, and will try to sign a veteran point guard soon.

The team’s president of basketball operations Magic Johnson said at Caldwell-Pope's introductory press conference that he plans to address the issue within the next week-and-a-half.

The good news for the Lakers is they do have a lot of options, as some proven playmakers have yet to be signed, three weeks into free agency. The likes of Trey Burke, Leandro Barbosa, Isaiah Canaan and Randy Foye are just some players available on the free agent market. Whoever they decide to sign is expected to help mentor Ball as well as provide them with quality minutes off the bench. It will also give them more depth in their backcourt rotation, which they badly need, as the 19-year-old UCLA product is the only true point guard currently in their lineup.

Should Johnson be able to stay true to his word and add a solid veteran point guard, it will cap off a very successful offseason for the Lakers. It will be very interesting to see how they perform next year, knowing that their fans are already expecting a big, successful season. As most fans know, however, expectations for this young team should be kept at bay, for now.
