For Aaron Gordon of the Orlando Magic, the fact that they were able to sneak in one win in their playoff series against the Toronto Raptors already says a lot about his team.

The Magic tallied a 42-40 record last season and qualified for the seventh seed in the East. They were matched up against the Toronto Raptors. And in Game 1, they surprised everyone with a big win over the eventual NBA Champions. For Gordon, the win isn't just a simple win.

“It just reaffirmed that we can play with anybody in the league,” Gordon said, per Ben Stinar of Amico Hoops. “We have that potential, we have that capability, so we’re gonna come out guns blazing ready to go next year.”

For the upcoming season, Gordon intends to surpass their seventh-place finish. Last year, he felt that there was an expectation among analysts that the Magic squad was capable of finishing within the top five. This is something that Gordon intends to carry with him for the 2019-2020 season.

“I think if we had that expectation (last) year we might have been a fifth or fourth seed,” he said. “We’re going to go in just expecting to play a brand of basketball that wins.”

Last season was the first time that the Magic qualified for the postseason since the 2011-2012 season. It certainly is a sign of good things to come. And Gordon looks to lead the team back to its winning ways.
