The Orlando Magic have signed big man Amile Jefferson to a two-way deal according to a report by Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.

Free agent forward Amile Jefferson has agreed to a two-way NBA contract with the Orlando Magic, league sources tell Yahoo. The former Duke standout finished last season on two-way with the Timberwolves.

Jefferson did not hear his name get called in the 2017 NBA Draft after playing five years for the Duke Blue Devils but later signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves before being left off the team’s final roster list for the 2017-18 season. Jefferson then took his talents to the G League, where he played for the Iowa Wolves. He led the Wolves in rebounding with 12.8 boards to go with 17.8 points and 1.1 steals in 47 games on his way to being named into the All G League Second Team. Getting rebounds is Jefferson’s strongest and most-NBA ready quality, as evidenced by his aforementioned stat in the G League.

Jefferson showed his ferociousness beneath the glass in this year’s Summer League, as he pulled down an average of 12.6 rebounds in five games in Las Vegas for the Timberwolves.

Jefferson’s lack of range continues to hold down his value down, but his motor and unquestioned work ethic are going to get him looks from teams looking for players to develop.

With a new two-way deal, Amile Jefferson is expected to spend most of his time suiting up for the Lakeland Magic in the G League.
