Orlando Magic point guard Markelle Fultz put up a triple-double on Wednesday against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center, a signature performance in what has been a great season for the former No. 1 overall pick.

Fultz, whose career got off to a rocky start with the Philadelphia 76ers, seems to have found a home with the Magic and everyone around the league, including James, is happy for the youngster.

Fultz says James has actually reached out to him a few times this season congratulating him on his sound play. The Magic's floor general appreciates the support he's gotten from James, who has served as a mentor to Fultz:

“He’s reached out to me multiple times, he’s been a mentor to me and he’s always told me that I could reach out to him for anything,” Markelle Fultz said about LeBron James, via Magic.com. “Recently, when I scored 25, he reached out to me and showed love. He’s like a mentor for me, and it’s so cool.’’

The Magic made a low-risk, high-reward-type of move last season when they traded for Fultz from the Sixers. So far, Fultz is playing well for the Magic. While the release point of his jump shot looks low, Fultz is shooting the ball with more fluidity now and getting to the basket at will.

Fultz is averaging 11.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 40 games this season. He's shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 26.5 percent from beyond the arc and 73.9 percent from the free-throw line.
