Orlando Magic center Nikola Vucevic is hoping that his team will finally embrace continuity after having a promising campaign in the 2018-19 NBA season.

The Magic ended their six-year playoff drought last season with a 42-40 record. Despite losing to eventual champions Toronto Raptors in the opening round of the playoffs, Vucevic has high hopes on his team because he is seeing signs of continuity with the arrival of head coach Steve Clifford last year.

“I honestly think the biggest thing is that we have that continuity with Coach Clifford and with the players as well,” Vucevic told Alex Kennedy of Hoopshype. “We expect to have a similar team and that will help, just when it comes to continuity and familiarity with the system.”

During their playoff drought, the Magic had to tweak their roster numerous times. Orlando was also handled by four coaches from 2012 to 2018 – Jacque Vaughn, James Borrego, Scott Skiles, and Frank Vogel. The constant coaching and roster changes proved to be unsuccessful, as they failed to win more than 35 games in a season during that span.

Armed with playoff experience, Vucevic is confident that the Magic will have a “really good year” in the 2019-20 NBA season. He expects it to be difficult because several teams in the Eastern Conference will parade retooled rosters, but he feels that they are up to the challenge next season.
