Orlando Magic president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman believes “the sky is the limit” for newly acquired guard Markelle Fultz.

The Magic traded for Markelle Fultz on Thursday. Fultz was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, but has dealt with shoulder injuries which have prevented him from shooting the ball properly.

Orlando is hoping a change of scenery and fresh start will be the best thing for Fultz, who is only 20-years-old.

During his rookie season with the Philadelphia 76ers, Markelle Fultz dealt with scapular muscle imbalance in his right shoulder and played in just 14 games. The combo guard averaged 7.1 points in 2017-18 while shooting 40.5 percent from the field and 47.6 percent from the free-throw line.

This season hasn't been any kinder to Fultz, who put on a show during his lone season of college basketball at the University of Washington. In November, Fultz was diagnosed with Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, an injury which affects nerves between the neck and shoulder resulting in abnormal functional movement and range of motion.

Raymond Brothers, Fultz's agent and attorney, shut his client down. Fultz hasn't played in an NBA game since Nov. 19.

Fultz has been rehabbing the injury in Los Angeles. He recently returned to Philadelphia to be with his teammates. Now, the explosive guard is headed to Orlando where he's getting a new basketball life. If he can regain his old shooting stroke, the Magic may have just acquired their franchise point guard in Fultz.
