This coming summer's free agency is expected to be one of the most competitive in NBA history as a number of big name players will be up for grabs, and teams will make their pitches to lure them to join their fold. However, the carousel will not only involve marquee players, as there will be some coaching changes that will be made.

One of the teams expected to replace their current head coach are the Orlando Magic. As early as now, there are already rumors on who will take over the position of Frank Vogel, and former NBA pro Jerry Stackhouse is the one thought of as having the inside track. His experience in coaching in the G-League, as well as his strong ties with the team's president of basketball operations, Jeff Weltman, are his biggest advantages, according to Mitch Lawrence of Sporting News.

“Orlando could be making a coaching change, with former NBA player Jerry Stackhouse seen as the Magic’s No. 1 choice to replace Frank Vogel. After a 20-year career in which he was twice an All-Star, Stackhouse has coached Toronto’s G-League team and has close ties to Jeff Weltman, now running the Magic as president of basketball operations after being with the Raptors and seeing Stackhouse up close when he was an assistant coach.”

Should the rumor come to fruition, it will be Stackhouse's first head coaching stint in the NBA. He served as an assistant coach with the Toronto Raptors back in 2015, before being named as the head coach of the Raptors 905 the next year. The 43-year-old has a ton of experience as a player having played in the league for 20 seasons, suiting up for eight different franchises, before retiring in 2013.

It remains to be seen if the Magic will ultimately hire him or not. The chances of it from happening is anyone's guess at this point, but one thing that's certain is that Stackhouse will bring a new brand of basketball to them, as well as a fresh start, as they plan to become a perennial playoff contender again soon.
