In a matter of days, Markelle Fultz‘s destination changed from one team in the Atlantic Division to another, shifting from being a potential No. 1 pick with the Boston Celtics to potentially talent-stacked Philadelphia 76ers team with plenty of promise.

The Washington standout can already see the gears in motion, seeing a future chemistry with fellow rookie Ben Simmons, who was drafted No. 1 overall in last year's draft.

“If I'm running the floor or I'm setting the screen for him or giving it back, it doesn't matter,” Fultz said during his pre-draft workout Saturday night with the team, according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “I'll be a great teammate. If that's me on the bench clapping for him, it doesn't matter to me.”

If the Sixers go through with their promise to select him, they will now have a scoring guard that can make plays and a passing forward that can be a scoring threat, making them a perfect complement to each other night in and night out.

At 6-foot, 4-inches, Fultz isn't just the prototypical point guard for the league, but also brings along a large wingspan, which he put to work during his freshman season, averaging 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.

The 76ers didn't trade up for just a one-trick pony, but rather a complete player that can tap into many aspects of his game as a pro and one that can benefit the pieces around him like Simmons and center Joel Embiid, whom he's known prior to becoming a college player.

“First of all, Embiid, he and I have been talking before when I was in college,” Fultz said. “He's a cool guy.”

“I'm pretty happy that the players here want me to come here.”
