This could bring a smile to New York Yankees fans. According to Mark Berman of Fox 26 KRIV in Houston, the son of former Bronx Bombers  Andy Pettitte, Jared, will be joining the Miami Marlins, whose current CEO is Yankees legend and Baseball Hall of Famer Derek Jeter.

LHP Jared Pettitte (@jaredp46), son of Andy, who went undrafted, says he’ll sign with the @Marlins: “It’s literally a dream come true. All I wanted was an opportunity to play professional baseball.” Jared played 4 years at @UHCougarBB & one year at Dallas Baptist (@DBU_Baseball)

Jared Pettitte went undrafted but joining the Marlins’ organization will be a great opportunity for the left-handed pitcher to experience at least some of what his three-time All-Star father did during his 18-year-career in the majors. Andy Pettitte spent most of his pro career playing for the Yankees. He had two stints with New York, as he played three years for the Houston Astros in between.

Together, Andy Pettite and Derek Jeter played alongside each other in New York for 15 seasons and during that span won five World Series.

As for Jared, he honed his craft in college at the Dallas Baptist University this year in which he posted a 5.81 ERA across 13 appearances.
