The Memphis Grizzlies play in Oakland on Wednesday night to take on the Golden State Warriors in a historic game. At 72 wins, the Warriors have a chance to stand alone in the record books as the only team to reach 73 wins in an NBA regular season.

But Grizzlies forward Matt Barnes has other plans.

“They're chasing history,” Barnes told reporters after the Grizzlies' 110-84 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night. “We have a chance to interrupt history. Playing in Golden State, I know how alive that crowd is going to be, and I'm going to be very excited to be part of that game.”

The Grizzlies and Warriors recently played last Saturday in a game where the Grizzlies were in command, heading into the fourth quarter up by eight points. Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, the Warriors came back to outscore the Grizzlies 30-21 in the fourth quarter and win the game 100-99. Barnes led the charge for the Grizzlies that night with 24 points, 15 rebounds, and four assists.

Currently sitting at seventh in the Western Conference, the Grizzlies also have the chance to slide into sixth place with a win in Oakland and a Dallas Mavericks loss.

Whatever happens, the game is sure to be an exciting one as both teams know exactly what's at stake.

“They're going to be ready to go tomorrow night, so if we do not show up ready to play it is going to be ugly,” said Barnes according to Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group.
