Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a knee injury during Thursday Night Football, which leaves Matt Moore as the only quarterback left on the roster. The hot takes have been flying since the injury on what exactly the Chiefs should do if Mahomes has to miss an extended period of time.

Eli Manning and Gardner Minshew are names that have been thrown out as trade targets, but the Chiefs don't need to make a trade — they need to stick with Moore moving forward.

Moore came in cold against the Denver Broncos, making his first pass attempt since 2017 and was still able to have some success. He wasn't asked to do a whole lot and still threw for 117 yards and a touchdown.

He has been a journeyman quarterback that has found a way to stick around the league. His best year was in 2011 when he made 12 starts for the Miami Dolphins, throwing for 2,497 yards, 16 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

The reason for keeping Moore doesn't have to do with his stats though — it's because of how much success the team will have with any quarterback not named Mahomes.

The reason for the Chiefs' success has been because of Mahomes. Don't let Thursday night's superb defensive performance fool you — this team still has a terrible defense. In four of the games this season, they have given up 26 points or more which means moving forward you're going to need a good offensive performances to win games.

With Moore, this team can be a decent offensive team that can probably do enough to make the playoffs even if Mahomes misses the rest of the season. Once the playoffs is here, it's going to be very hard for Moore to lead the Chiefs to a Super Bowl and it will probably be tough to even win a playoff game.

That would make some believe the Chiefs should make a trade so this can still be a special season and a Super Bowl contender.

But what quarterback is actually out there that would play better than Moore? Eli Manning's play has made it pretty clear that he can't lead a team to too much success and Gardner Minshew hasn't been as good the last couple of weeks.

There isn't anyone out there that can lead the Chiefs to a Super Bowl. Kansas City should hold onto their draft picks and assets and use them on future teams.

The bottom line is, Mahomes is the only quarterback that can lead the Chiefs to a Super Bowl — so there's no point in the Chiefs attempting to acquire another veteran quarterback in the meantime.
