Dallas Mavericks star Kristaps Porzingis will be ready for the start of next season's Mavs training camp, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon.

Porzingis underwent surgery recently to repair a lateral meniscus tear to his knee. The surgery came after Porzingis explored multiple options to expedite his recovery for the Mavs.

Per Tim MacMahon:

“Sources have told ESPN that the Mavs are optimistic that Porzingis will be able to participate in training camp, which will begin at an undetermined date because of the uncertainty of next season's NBA schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The upcoming season, due to schedule adjustments forced by COVID-19, has given Porzingis the gift of time in his rehabbing process, allowing him the opportunity to participate in Mavs training camp when it occurs.

Porzingis injured his knee during Game 1 in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. He never returned to full form, forcing him to sit out of action for the remainder of the series after playing in Games 2 and 3. The Mavs were able to pose a legitimate threat to the Los Angeles Clippers, taking them to a six-game series before being eliminated.

Many spectators believe that had Porzingis been healthy and available for action, the Mavs could've possibly bested the Clippers. A sensational Luka Doncic put on a show for most of the series.

The Mavs traded for Porzingis during the 2018-19 season, gambling on a hobbled All-Star in hopes that he'd resign. The gamble paid off mightily for the Mavericks. During his first season with the Mavericks, The Unicorn averaged 20.4 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2 blocks per game.
