The Dallas Mavericks enjoyed a solid win over Texas rivals San Antonio Spurs, 102-98. It was a spectacular game as Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis played side-by-side for the Mavs once again.

However, fans and analysts noted that Porzingis had quite a terrible outing in Doncic's first game back. He finished the game with numbers a lot lower compared to those he put up during the stretch of games that his Slovenian teammate was having most of the team's touches. His performance against the Spurs obviously ended the double-double streak he had in the process.

The Unicorn explained to Mavericks' Dwain Price that he doesn't care about keeping his run of double-double games alive. All that mattered to him was whether the Mavs were running away with the W over one of their division rivals in the Spurs.

Price wrote about his point of view:

Meanwhile, Porzingis collected five straight double-doubles before producing 13 points and eight rebounds against the Spurs. That left the 7-3 power forward almost apologetic following the win over San Antonio.

“My mindset is I just want to be as selfless as I can out there,” Porzingis said. “Obviously I’m always looking to score and I want to be aggressive, but I want to do what’s best for the team. And if that’s the way we’re effective and we’re good on offense, then I’m with it. And if we’re winning, I’m with it.”

Porzingis is having a decent season in his first full season back. He's averaging 17.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists a game while backing Doncic up. Mavs fans can expect these numbers to improve as Porzingis gets his game sense back.

Until that happens, fans can expect steady production from their star big as they play the Golden State Warriors tonight.
