Dallas Mavericks superstar Luca Doncic and Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce are nearly the same… or so says the player turned NBA broadcaster about the Mavs youngster.

Paul Pierce has spent his retirement days from the league by making the boldest of claims, some of which most fans would simply skim over. While that's been the case in the past, most spectators aren't about to sit by and allow Pierce's latest outburst to slide past them.

Pierce definitely crossed lines after saying that Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic has a lot of Pierce's game in him:

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news to The Truth, but if anything it's definitely the other way around. Even in Doncic's rookie year, the point-forward's skillset had long surpassed that of Pierce's in terms of potential.

From a pure scoring standpoint, the case can still be made of Pierce reigning over Luka Doncic, but only for so long. The Mavs talent is only 21, which leaves an insane amount of room for growth as he continues to hone his skills. The level of accomplishments by Pierce and Doncic at the age of 21 are far and wide.

Pierce has been known lately to make some absurd claims, such as when he stated that he was better than Dwyane Wade in their respective primes. For now, the ESPN commentator should stick to just that, but in a more subtle approach.

As for Luka Doncic, he'll continue to prove why he's a generational talent that's separated himself from not only Pierce but countless other names that came before his time. He's averaging 27.6 points, nine rebounds and eight assists through his first seven games. With Kristaps Porzingis on set to make his season debut soon, the Mavs' sole purpose is to make a deeper run in the playoffs than last season. There's a good chance that happens.
