Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle spoke with reporters on Friday about Luka Doncic and he provided good news for anyone romantically interested in the 19-year-old Slovenian star. When asked about Doncic's status, Carlisle replied quite literally that Doncic was single.

Doncic is day-to-day with a shoulder injury, but he did play Saturday when the Dallas Mavericks won over the Golden State Warriors. Doncic took some knocks in Dallas' blowout win over the Utah Jazz so there was some concern about his status heading into Saturday's game. That's what prompted Carlisle's hilarious response.

Relationship status aside, Luka Doncic is having a standout rookie season. Prior to Saturday's matchup with the Warriors, he's averaging 19.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. He's been the best player for Carlisle's squad early on this season. Despite being one of the youngest players in the league, Doncic looks more and more like a seasoned veteran with each passing game.

The Mavs have to be over the moon about their decision to trade Trae Young and a future first-round pick just to lock up Luka Doncic. Young is having a nice rookie season as well, but Doncic appears to be the clear early favorite for Rookie of the Year honors.

Luka Doncic's versatility and ability to impact the game in a variety of ways is on full display in his rookie season. He's bucking the notion that he could be another European bust and now he's following in the footsteps of guys like Dirk Nowitzki, Kristaps Porzingis, and Lauri Markkanen.
