When Tracy McGrady looks at Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic, he sees the future face of the NBA. The Slovenian wonderboy just has that huge impact and “it” factor that screams he's next.

The NBA icon revealed as much in his latest appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, heaping praise on the Mavs star and how he plays the game. While McGrady admits Doncic is not the most athletic or flashy player in the NBA, he still gets the job done, and more, with his basketball IQ and skills that aren't seen in any 23-year-old out there.

“Luka is pretty damn good,” McGrady said when asked about the best young player in the NBA today.

“I love watching Luka because Luka is not the fastest, he’s not the quickest, he can’t jump over a dollar but skill-wise, his skill level is off the charts. He knows how to control the pace of the game, he knows how to create space and get his shot off anybody, whether it’s somebody that’s bigger, stronger, quicker than him. He just knows how to play the game and control the pace.”

No one can argue with Tracy McGrady's reasoning right there. After all, Luka Doncic has been phenomenal since entering the league in 2018, and he has already accomplished a lot in his young career.

With his current trajectory, it's not hard to see Doncic winning multiple MVP trophies and championships if the Mavs can surround him with better talent.

Furthermore, it is not only T-Mac who has been impressed with the Mavs youngster. Even Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James professed his love for Doncic, as he highlighted the same points that McGrady made in his latest interview.

Sure enough, the likes of Jayson Tatum, Ja Morant or even Trae Young all have cases for being the best young player in the NBA, but until they can convince the others they are better, the title goes to Doncic (at least for McGrady and James).
