The Dallas Mavericks reportedly envision Houston Rockets center Clint Capela as a fine front court partner alongside Mavs star Kristaps Porzingis next season, according to Mike Fisher of 247 Sports.

The Rockets are actively looking to trade Capela and the Mavs have interest in acquiring the 25-year-old. Capela averaged 16.6 points and 12.7 rebounds this season with the Rockets.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Wednesday that Rockets general manager Daryl Morey “is showing an aggressive desire to improve (the) roster with all players and picks available in talks.” Wojnarowski reports that all players under contract, besides James Harden, could be moved in the right deal. That leaves players such as aging point guard Chris Paul, the star who is reportedly in conflict with Harden. And it leaves a player like Capela, who an NBA source tells DBcom the Mavs surely envision as a fine front-court partner alongside Kristaps Porzingis.

Capela is a player who is very reliant on James Harden and Chris Paul. Since the Mavs have Luka Doncic, though, Capela could have a similar impact for the Mavs as he currently does with the Rockets.

Capela signed a five-year deal with Houston last summer worth $90 million. The Mavs have Dwight Powell and Salah Mejri on the roster.

Powell becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer after he declined his 2019-20 player option with the Mavs.
