The New York Mets have found a new manager. Again.

According to Steve Gelbs of SNY, the Mets have hired Luis Rojas to be their new skipper following the firing of Carlos Beltran.

Rojas, the brother of Moises Alou, has been in New York's organization since 2007 when he took over as the franchise's Dominican Summer League team.

He spent the 2019 campaign as a quality control coach on the major-league staff.

New York originally hired Beltran earlier this offseason, but dismissed him for his central role in the Houston Astros' 2017 sign-stealing scandal.

Beltran was a member of that 2017 Astros championship team that was using cameras in center field to steal signs at home games and relay them to their hitters at the plate by banging trash cans in the dugout.

The Mets tagged Beltran as their manager before the news about the scandal broke, and as more details emerge, New York was essentially left with no choice but to fire Beltran.

Beltran was not the only manager who was sacked as a result of the investigation, as Astros manager A.J. Hinch and Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora, the latter of whom was Houston's bench coach in 2017 and proceeded to lead the Red Sox to a World Series title during his first year at the helm in 2018, were also canned.

The Mets are coming off of a 2019 season in which they won 86 games, missing the playoffs for the third straight season. Since 2001, New York has made just three postseason appearances, including a trip to the World Series in 2015.
