The New York Mets have enjoyed a tremendous offseason so far, capped off by the signing of three-time Cy Young winner Max Scherzer. But despite bringing in numerous pieces to strengthen their roster, NY still needs a manager.

While the team explores several different options, Mad Max has made it extremely clear who he wants to lead the Mets next season: Buck Showalter.

The Mets reportedly contacted Showalter on Monday and have also shown interest in the likes of Brad Ausmus, Joe Espada, and Don Kelly. Showalter undoubtedly would be the most experienced of the lot, most recently coaching the Baltimore Orioles from 2010-2018.

Scherzer has never played for Showalter, but he clearly has a lot of respect for him. The 65-year-old boasts a .506 winning percentage across 16 seasons in the big leagues, also managing the Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Guiding a team like the Mets is no easy job and they definitely need someone who can deal with the constant pressure and criticism. The one thing that pops out most with Showalter though is that he's already managed in New York in the Bronx. He knows exactly what it takes.

The Mets should take Scherzer's advice and hire Buck Showalter. It's a no-brainer.
