The Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox will continue their three-game series tonight at Guaranteed Rate Field. Tuesday’s game was a thriller, with the White Sox nearly blowing a five-run lead but holding on for a 7-6 victory. Minnesota will look to even up the series at one, while Chicago hopes to stretch their lead in the AL Central with another win tonight. It’s time to continue our MLB odds series and make a Twins-White Sox prediction and pick.

Before we get into the pick, let’s see how how the sportsbooks have set the odds for the game.

MLB Odds: Twins-White Sox Odds

Minnesota Twins ML (+110)

Chicago White Sox ML (-120)

Over 9 runs (-114)

Under 9 runs (-106)

Why The Twins Could Cover The Spread

Minnesota is one of the hottest offensive teams in the MLB right now. In their last seven games, the Twins have scored less than six runs only once. This is in part due to the return of third baseman Josh Donaldson. He’s been fantastic since re-entering the lineup. Designated hitter Nelson Cruz has also been a monster at the plate recently, hitting .333 and slugging .630 in his last seven games. This lineup can contend with any pitcher in the league.

Minnesota will have to deal with opposing pitcher Dylan Cease tonight. Cease has been a pretty solid option for much of the year, but he’s hit a bit of a slump recently. Over his last seven games, he owns a 5.45 ERA and a WHIP of 1.41. Both numbers are much worse than his season-long stats.

Cease has faced Minnesota once this season, and it didn’t go very well. He went five innings and allowed three runs, getting stuck with a no-decision in the process. The Twins are capable of damaging Cease early and getting into a bullpen that has its weak points.

Why The White Sox Could Cover The Spread

The White Sox went through a slump recently, but the team seems to have put that behind them. The offense has begun to wake up a little but, putting up 7 runs in each of the last two games. The lineup should be able to continue that success against Minnesota starter Bailey Ober.

Ober has been decent this year, but the White Sox should be able to score some runs off of him just like they did when they first faced Ober. The Twins right-hander went five innings and allowed three runs, much like Cease when facing the Twins. Ober’s problem is his inability to work deep into ball games. He’s never worked past the fifth inning, so the White Sox should face the Minnesota bullpen for plenty of innings.

The Twins’ bullpen hasn’t been terrible this year, but they definitely have their weak spots. Asking the bullpen the pitch four or five innings against a White Sox team that is hitting its stride offensively is a recipe for disaster for Minnesota.

Final Twins-White Sox Prediction & Pick

With both teams hitting their stride offensively, the over is the pick here. The Twins should be able to get to Cease on account of how hot they are, and the White Sox will get a couple of early runs off of Ober before working on the suspect Minnesota bullpen. These two should easily combine for more than nine runs.

FINAL PICK: Over 9 runs (-114)
