Carlos Alcaraz is on top of the tennis world after winning the Mutua Madrid Open. The 19-year-old from Spain became the youngest player to win the tournament after taking down Alexander Zverev, the tournament's defending champion, 6-3, 6-1 in the final match.

Alcaraz made his way through legends Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in prior rounds to make it to the final. The Madrid Open title is his second Masters 1ooo title along with the Miami Open.

Alcaraz set several records en route to his Madrid Open victory. He became the youngest player to defeat three top-five players in the same tournament since 1990, per ESPN Stats & Info. His victory over Nadal made him the first teenager to take down the King of Clay.

According to Sam Goodwin of Yahoo Sports, Alcaraz said that he has much more confidence after playing against top competition previously. Taking the Madrid Open crown in such a decisive fashion proved that he was right.

“Last year, I was going through these experiences for the first time, playing against the best players, playing in the Masters 1000, and I learned a lot,” Alcaraz said.

“Now it's different. I go onto the court with the confidence that I can win at any moment.”

Alcaraz is following in the footsteps of Nadal. The Spanish phenom could also become one of the world's best players for years after rocketing into the top 10. Zverez told him after the match that he is the best tennis player in the world after his Madrid Open victory. The sky is truly the limit for Carlos Alcaraz.
