Golden State Warriors All-Star power forward Draymond Green says he plans on “dicing up” the box-and-1 zone if the Toronto Raptors try it again.
The Raptors used the defensive tactic late in the fourth quarter of Game 2 of the NBA Finals, and it gave the Warriors problems. Golden State didn't score for over four minutes.
Green, though, believes the guys on the team will be prepared for it moving forward.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr probably showed his team some film about the box-and-1 zone. As the series moves along, the Dubs should be better prepared for it if the Raptors decide to use it again.
Green has been stellar for the Warriors through the first two games of the NBA Finals. He's averaging 13.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 9.5 assists while shooting 38.1 percent from the field and 91.7 percent from the free-throw line. Green was one assist short in Game 2 of recording his second straight triple-double in the Finals.
With Kevin Durant already ruled out for Game 3 and Klay Thomson dealing with a left hamstring strain, the Warriors will once again need Green to be the Swiss Army Knife which he is for 48 minutes. Whenever Green is pushing the pace off makes or misses, the Dubs are pretty much unbeatable.
