Allen Iverson remains one of the most influential NBA players ever, but if you're going to ask him, his impact on sports might have been far greater had he been a football player. After all, Iverson believes his football skills was much better than his basketball back in the day.

In his recent appearance on Club Shay Shay, Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe asked Iverson if he believes he would have had a better NFL career had he chosen to pursue football instead of basketball and the NBA. Brimming with confidence, the former Philadelphia 76ers superstar doubled down on his belief that he would have been way better had he played his “first love.”

“Not being cocky or arrogant, I know that I would’ve been a better player in football than I was in basketball. That's not disrespecting the basketball gods, that's not disrespecting the game that has done so much for me. … But football was my first love,” Iverson said.

For what it's worth, it's not the first time that Allen Iverson opened up his thoughts about being a better football player. During a previous interview with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on All The Smoke, The Answer revealed how blessed he is to be great at both sports.

Iverson played football in high school, mainly as quarterback, before pursuing basketball in college with Georgetown. He led his high school football team to a state championship during his junior year though, producing 21 touchdowns and 2,204 yards on offense.

Fortunately for NBA fans, Allen Iverson chose basketball and treated everyone with his nasty handles and epic scoring night in and night out. Basketball aficionados certainly can't ask for anything better.
