Allen Iverson is one of the best players in NBA history. In fact, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016.

As most fans of Iverson know, the NBA legend was a superstar high school football player at Bethel high school in Hampton, Virginia. He led his football team to a state championship during his junior year and produced a total of 21 touchdowns and 2,204 yards on offense.

However, did you know that Iverson was a better football player than he was a basketball player? That's at least what the NBA icon told Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on All The Smoke.

“The people act like they don't know what I was in football, you know what I mean,” Allen Iverson said. “They act like they don't know. Like I was way better in football than I was in basketball. It was my first love…that just let you know how great God is because I'm a Hall of Famer in basketball.”

This is pretty incredible, folks. While NBA fans are so thankful Iverson chose basketball over football, boy, would it have been fun to watch A.I. play in the NFL.

Iverson and LeBron James are two guys who were stars in both football and basketball in high school. The NBA is glad The Answer and The King decided to pursue a basketball career, as both guys are all-time greats.

Iverson was the 2001 MVP and is considered the “pound-for-pound” GOAT, while LeBron will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer like Iverson whenever he decides to retire from the NBA.
