Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young and Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns have been named the NBA's Players of the Week for games played between Oct. 22 and Oct. 27.

Young averaged 38.5 points, 9.0 assists and 7.0 rebounds per game for the Hawks. Towns, meanwhile, averaged 32.0 points, 13.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game for the Timberwolves:

The Hawks are 2-0, with wins over the Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic. The Timberwolves are 3-0. Minnesota has wins over the Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat.

Both the Hawks and Timberwolves are trying to make the playoffs this season after missing it in 2018-19. Young and Towns are the best players on their respective teams and two of the brightest youngsters in the NBA.

Young averaged 19.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 8.1 assists as a rookie while shooting 41.8 percent from the field, 32.4 percent from beyond the arc and 82.9 percent from the free-throw line. The Hawks believe Trae Young is going to be an All-Star floor general for the next decade.

Towns made his second All-Star team last season. KAT averaged 24.4 points, 12.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 51.8 percent from the field, 40.0 percent from beyond the arc and 83.6 percent from the free-throw line. The Timberwolves star recorded 54 double-doubles. Karl-Anthony Towns appears well on his way to his third straight All-Star appearance.
