Jimmer Fredette has reportedly reached a two-year deal with Greek team Panathinaikos, according to Varlas Nikos of Eurohoops.

Fredette had originally been slated to play for the Golden State Warriors’ Summer League squad, but he pulled out to avoid any injury and opted to explore his options overseas. He is coming off a successful three-season stint with the Shanghai Sharks in China.

Fredette became something of a sensation in China, even nabbing the illustrious nickname of The Lonely Master all while putting up bonkers statistics in the defensively challenged Chinese Basketball Association. Overall, Fredette’s numbers in China were crazy.

During his CBA MVP campaign in 2016-17, Fredette produced staggering per-game averages of 37.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.6 steals all while shooting astonishingly well: 47.4 percent percent from the field, 39.6 percent from deep and 93.3 percent from the free throw line.

Capping it all off, Fredette notched an astonishing 73 points against the Guangdong Southern Tigers in a double-overtime game in February 2017.

All of this international success led to Fredette returning to the NBA last season with the Phoenix Suns, though he only saw action in six games, totaling 65 minutes in those contests.

In Greece, Fredette might play under embattled legendary head coach Rick Pitino, who turned around the team’s fortunes after a rocky start to the year. Pitino’s contract, however, only lasted until the end of the 2018-19 season, so perhaps Fredette’s and Pitino’s paths will not cross in Greece.

Either way, Panathinaikos will have a new star for next season.
