The 2021 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas has come and gone, with the Sacramento Kings capturing the title after beating the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night. Following the conclusion of the tournament, the league has announced the two Co-MVPS, Davion Mitchell from Sacramento and Brooklyn Nets rookie Cam Thomas.

Both players will likely have no problem carving out a role in the NBA next season, especially after their impressive showings. Mitchell, the ninth overall pick out of Baylor, was electrifying on both ends of the floor in Vegas. In five games, the 22-year-old averaged 10.8 points and 5.8 dimes while shooting an eye-popping 47% from downtown. His hard-nosed, in-your-face defense was also on full display, locking up Celtics sharpshooter Payton Pritchard in the title game.

As for Thomas, he was nabbed at 27th overall in the 2020 Draft by the Nets and put the NBA Summer League on notice, leading the tourney with 27 points per contest across four appearances. The former LSU standout even erupted for 36 against the Spurs.  He should be a nice addition to Brooklyn off the bench, especially when their stars need a rest.

Both rookies made a statement in Sin City and look poised to get their NBA careers started on the right foot.
