Former NBA player Nick Young has made multiple bold statements as of late. His latest tweet about Utah Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell is no different. Young said that if Phoenix Suns star Chris Paul is a candidate to win this year’s MVP because of their win-loss record, then there’s no doubt that Mitchell should win it.

Mitchell and the Jazz continue to top the NBA with an impressive 31-11 slate heading to their game against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.

The Jazz have been the most surprising team this season. Not a lot of analysts predicted they’d be in the position they are in today. Mitchell and company have a lot to prove but their record right now helps prove their case. While Spida isn't really in the MVP conversation, it's certainly a strong argument to add him because of their wins, as Young pointed out.

The Jazz have been playing their best basketball in years. After all, aside from Mitchell, they have two-time Defensive Player of the Year winner Rudy Gobert, All-Star guard Mike Conley Jr., and strong Sixth Man of the Year candidate Jordan Clarkson. They're currently third in the NBA in offensive rating and sixth in defensive rating. They are also pretty hard to stop when they’re hitting shots from downtown.

While the Jazz have yet to prove themselves in the NBA Playoffs, they will get the opportunity to do just that this season. Can they make the leap to being classified as contenders? Only time will tell.

As for Donovan Mitchell’s case for MVP, if their record is indeed the biggest factor, then he should certainly be in the conversation along with Chris Paul, LeBron James, Nikola Jokic, and Joel Embid. Nick Young certainly agrees.
