The latest coronavirus infection report in Orange County, Florida is not a welcome development in terms of the NBA’s plan to play the remainder of the 2019-20 season in Disney World. Unfortunately, the number of coronavirus positive results has increased over the past few days in Orange County, which is the home of the Walt Disney-owned amusement park.

Below is the report of NBA insider Tim Reynolds:

While there appears to be a general improvement in terms of how the national government has been handling the pandemic of late, there’s no denying that the threat is still very much real. Orange County in Florida, much like many other areas in the United States, has likewise seen an increase in positive cases over the past week or so. Disney World is located in Bay Lake and Lake Buenavista, which are both part of Orange County.

The good news here is that the NBA intends to implement stern measures in terms of controlling the bubble in Disney World. For one, daily coronavirus tests will be conducted on the majority, if not all players and personnel within the bubble. Moreover, no one will be allowed in and out of the bubble so as to reduce exposure. Both measures will be enforced strictly, and should significantly reduce the risk of the virus entering the bubble.

At the end of the day, however, there will always be a risk. The NBA will do everything in its power to reduce the same, but it will also need the full support and cooperation of everybody involved.
